Topics range from virtual living environments to cell membranes and forest ecosystems / 111 million euros in funding for an initial period of four years.
The German Research Foundation is establishing nine new Collaborative Research Centers to further strengthen cutting-edge research at universities. This was decided by the responsible Grants Committee. The new CRCs will initially be funded for four years from July 1, 2022, with a total of around 111 million euros.
In addition to the nine institutions, the Grants Committee voted to extend 19 CRCs for one additional funding period each, including six SFB/Transregios. Collaborative Research Centers enable innovative, ambitious and long-term research projects to be carried out in a network and are thus intended to serve the development of priorities and structures at the applicant universities. CRCs are funded for a maximum of twelve years. As of July 2022, the DFG will fund a total of 276 CRCs.
