Iryna: We were so pleased to meet Paul Frankland personally at the meet the speaker session after his wonderful lecture. In a cosy circle we discussed the unique aspects of developmental research in mice and how concepts and notions can be translated into human research. Paul shared his experience in this regard and gave advice about investigations of neurogenesis in the developing brain. Early career researchers also briefly presented some of their findings and Paul provided insightful feedback to all. We also dicussed the many limitations of animal and human research in this regard and Paul shared his thoughts on future directions in the field. All in all, it was a very vibrant and insightful “meet-the-speaker” session.
